Gas for Churning Dirt

Option #2 for $10.

Buy 2 gallons of gas: Depending on your fuel efficiency this should get you from Richland Center to Hillsboro and back. I’m not sure what you’re going to do when you get there (your budget has already been spent on gas alone). This trip did use up 1 hour of the day so I guess you will have lots of time to sit at home and stare at the TV which is turned off. No TV allowed. The electricity and cable bill are not including in this budget.

Richland County Fairgrounds hosts 2-Day Truck and Tractor Pulling Event

Churning Dirt Nationals returns to the Richland County Fairgrounds on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21, 2012. Daily admission is just $10. Both days are jam packed with action including the triumphant return of the Demo Devil who will attempt several stunts such as the dangerous “Steel Wall Crash” with a convertible car. Jason Schultz, Churning Dirt Organizer comments, “Stunts will be performed by a crazy guy named the Demo Devil promoting his ‘No Roll Cage Tour’.  He will jump over 100 feet in a car with no roll cage and then crashes into a pile of crashed cars.” Also, the audience will witness the inaugural running of the North American Camel Breeders Cup, as camels race for the coveted prize.

The event starts on Friday, July 20 at 6:00 p.m. with the American Mini-Pullers, the Tri-County Pullers, the Badger State Pullers, and the Southwest Wisconsin Pullers competing simultaneously on three pulling tracks. The action heats up at 9:00 p.m. with three stunts by the Demo Devil and nationally known Mechanical Mischief Monster on the pulling tracks. The Madison based band, “Charm School Rejects” will wrap up the evening with a performance in the pits.

Gates open on Saturday, July 21 at 8:00 a.m. with the P&P Carriers & Wisconsin Kenworth Semi-Truck Show, Jones Chevrolet Buick and Cadillac’s 9th Annual Car Show.  At 11:00 a.m. multiple classes of pullers compete on multiple tracks for cash prizes and the Meyer’s Chopper Box. “We will have over 300 different pulling vehicles hook to the sled Friday and Saturday.  Over 7,000 fans enjoy the pullers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri,” Schultz said.

Camel racing begins at 4:00 p.m. with four heats to determine the finalists for the North American Camel Breeders Cup.  The finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. “The Big Show” with the Badger State Pullers, the Tri-State Pullers, and the Tri-County Pullers on two tracks will follow, and at 10:00 p.m. the Demo Devil will attempt a steel wall crash, with a convertible and the Mechanical Mischief Monster Truck will once again thrill the audience. Also at 10:00, “Sonic Rush” a rock experience that melds the “Rock Arena era’s driving guitar rhythms with today’s cutting edge”.

Churning Dirt is the summer event of the Hybrid Redneck organization that runs 4 motor sports events throughout the year and returns all profits to the Richland County area in the form of charitable donations. To find out more please visit: http://www.hybridredneck.com/
