St. Charles, MN 7-12 Tri State Website
This was my first time announcing or attending the Winona County Fair in St. Charles. Nice size pit area, easy access to the pits, nice seating and a good pulling track.

First Class up was the V8 Mod Class with 4 in the Class Jim McDonald took the win, and that was the first time Jeff Fortney and his Dirt Devil had been beat in the first hook all year.

Second class up was the 9500 Pro Farm, I think we had 10 in the class. This is basically Jeremy Ploetz’s hometown pull with is John Deere called the Big One, so he had lots of fans cheering for him and I believe he finished second at 328, Mike Rynes and his never enuff tractor took the win at 332. It is always nice to see some different tractors come hook, Lange has JD 8110 that pulled and a few other tractors that I hadn’t seen in a while, John Eness and his Johny’s Cash needs more cash, he had a couple tough hooks to the sled, and John Udultch made his first appearance this year with his 1206 and believe was in the top 5 in this class, the former grease monkey tractor of pichlers.

Then we pulled the 4×4 SS Trucks, think we had 5 in the class. Amy Brogley got the win, but the highlight of the night was Tom Norby of Canton, MN let his grandson Collin Bennet drive his truck for the first time, and I believe he got second place. We all know how much family is involved in this sport, this sport has helped kept my dad and I best friends all these years, it was pretty sweet watching Tom talk to him on the starting line, ok enuf mushy stuff. Good tight class, all the trucks made nice passes, Stranglehold ran hard, and the first time this year the Nasty Habit of Russ Breezer was out with Tri State.

Next up were the 2wd Mod Trucks, debuting new motors in Jim Flynn’s Bad Bowtie, I was told he has Rod Brogley’s 2nd motor in the Bad Bowtie, and the Non Prophet of Lonnie Thill and his back up motor in as well. Well the magic worked for Jim Flynn getting his first win of the year with an impressive 309 ft hook.

Super Farms were next-10 in the class again nice to see some new tractors that I don’t get to see all the time, I believe the current points leader in tri state Dennis Schaller and the Sugar Bush finished second or third, I know that Mike Wegner and the Power Up had the lead for a while as well, good straight pass for the JD 7710 and Allan Cook won with his IH 5488 called Black Thunder on the last hook in the class. Really tight class, top 6 tractors were all within 7 feet of each other.

We only had one tractor for the Super/Pro class, so Matt Blasberg with his IH 3688 made a nice pass with his Lim Pro.

Second time thru-Dirt Devil came out on top in the V8 Mod Class, Jeff Kelchen and the Corn Burner took the 2wd win, Daniel Lange with his Black Gold JD Super Farm beat Dennis Jakobi and his Black Stallion II by a few feet to get the win, I believe Dreamin Green of Jungworth was third. John Udulutch won the Pro Farm and Jodie Brogley won the 4×4 SS Hook with the Gearin UP truck. Nice Place, Nice Pull.

Up Coming Hooks for Tri-State Friday July 13th in Decorah, IA 6pm Start time.

The atta boy of the night goes to Gene Simons of Minnesota, he has a pro farm called too hot too farm 1066, had truck problems on the way there and he got towed to the pull, he made it in time for the second hook of the Pro Farm, and he made a really nice pass in Super Farm class, at 281 and the winner was at 308, so he made a good pass with his 466.

I will be announcing in Darlington for Badger State Sat July 14th at Noon and then again for the evening session which I believe starts at 630pm, but check the schedule. Darlington is having Illinois Diesel Trucks, 2 Badger State classes and some farm classes during the day starting at noon, and then all the big tractor classes sat night.BSTP Website
